Beads Of Courage

Nolan always gets so excited every time he starts a new Beads of Courage necklace.  Usually I just post a picture and announce here goes another one...lol  This time Nolan not only wanted me to count and see how many beads he had but he wanted me to break it down and see how many he had of each color.  This takes a lot of time!!  It probably took me close to 2 hours to get everything completed.

Orange beads are for line placements or removals (picc and ports) ----  8
glow in the dark beads are for radiation-----------------------------------30
Dark green beads are for TPN (IV nutrition)------------------------------83
Purple beads are for IV antibiotic infusions--------------------------------27

Aqua beads are for tube insertions(NJ,GJ & G tubes)-----------------19
Silver Beads are for dressing changes-------------------------------------19

Tortoise beads are for lumbar punctures----------------------------------4

Light Green beads are for scan(x-ray, MRI and CT)---------------------78
Bumpy beads are for unexpected events-----------------------------------5

Green Beads are for are for fevers and neutropenia----------------------10
Magenta is for ambulance rides and ER visits-----------------------------13
Square hearts are for PICU-----------------------------------------------4
Yellow beads are for overnights at the hospital------------------------90
White beads are for chemotherapy---------------------------------------208
Purple bead is for completion of treatment------------------------------1
Wingman, Courage beads, biopsies and other-------------------------75
Rainbow beads are for (PT,OT, Speech and audiology)--------------114
Nolan has had more therapy sessions then 114 but rainbow beads are hard to find. So I finally just settled for 3 a month to represent the 3 different therapies Nolan has to do every month.  He also gets a rainbow bead every time he gets his hearing tested.  He has had approximately close to 250 therapy sessions over two years.
total bead count = 1,160

I'm not the best at math and every time I count these I get a different number...lol  AND I'm using a calculator.  So I rounded the # that I got the most.

Nolan is very proud to say he has started his 13th necklace.  I'm just so glad he has something to look forward to in all this.  It really shows his story and what all he's been through.    Thank you Beads of Courage for being there for Nolan!!  www.beadsofcourage.org
